Location: Cumin Kitchen and Drink, New Minas, Nova Scotia
Employment Type: Full-time (40-45 hours per week)
About Us:
Cumin Kitchen and Drink is a fast-paced, daytime restaurant in the heart of New Minas, located in a professional building with medical services and a pharmacy. We are known for our fresh, locally sourced food—everything is made in-house, from soups and sandwiches to pastries and meals to go. In addition to our regular service, we also host private events, including dinner gatherings, and are looking for a dedicated individual to help coordinate them.
We are seeking a hands-on Server/Supervisor/Manager to lead our team while actively participating in daily operations. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment, enjoys engaging with a diverse customer base, and takes pride in exceptional service.
Responsibilities:
Lead by example—serve guests, clean, make coffee beverages, and ensure smooth service.
Manage daily front-of-house operations, including inventory tracking and ordering.
Step in when needed—cover shifts for sick team members to maintain seamless service.
Maintain a calm and confident presence during busy hours while ensuring excellent guest experiences.
Oversee team performance, providing guidance and support to maintain high service standards.
Handle customer inquiries, catering requests, and coordinate private events, including dinner gatherings.
Ensure the dining area and service stations are clean, stocked, and well-organized.
Uphold health, safety, and food quality standards.
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of restaurant experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
Strong multitasking skills and ability to stay composed in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and leadership skills—able to motivate and guide a team.
Comfortable handling inventory management and ordering for front-of-house supplies.
Barista experience or ability to make high-quality coffee beverages is a plus.
Experience in event planning or private dining coordination is an asset.
Passion for fresh, local food and great hospitality.
Must be flexible to work Monday through Saturday, with a 40-45 hour workweek.
